Description
Nutmeg is derived from the seeds of Myristica fragrans, an aromatic evergreen tree that grows to the height of 30-40 ft approx, with spreading branches and fleshy yellow fruits, which looks more like apricot or peach. It is considered to have originated from Banda Islands in the Moluccas of Indonesia, known as Spice Islands.
Nutmeg, also known as Jaiphal, is mainly used as spice to give aromatic flavor to food.
